If I'm a sucker for anything, it's R&B tracks of my youth being thrown into electronic tracks. I first got hip to Ta-ku off of the way he would blend '80s R&B songs into his tunes, but this 99 Souls bit is something else entirely. This UK-based duo describes themselves as "1 jazz kid + 1 hip hop baby who grew up and fell in love with the 4/4 kick drum," but there's something special about "The Girl Is Mine," the first track from "Le Project Secret." Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine" was a pretty huge feat in R&B back when I was in high school, where these two stars linked up to "battle" for this one guy on a track, but adding in the bit from Beyonce in the beginning of this one adds another element, where a third, older diva is trying to sit these two down to have them explain the situation. It's weird; it's not like this track has a huge storyline going on, but it feels like there's something more there, especially when it's set to such a bubbly house track, one that's already received praise from Pete Tong, DJ Target, and other UK radio DJs.

This one is available for free down below; if you go to the SoundCloud page, 320s and .WAVs are yours as well. Enjoy.
