Earlier this week, Dieselboy dropped his massive new mix, "The Destroyer." Last month, DJ Dara announced that he's celebrating 20 years of DJing (and drum & bass) with a new tour. That just leaves newness from the final member of the Planet of the Drums conglomerate. AK1200's been repping drum & bass in America for just as long as Dieselboy and DJ Dara, releasing a number of well-received mix CDs over the years on Moonshine (including Lock & Roll and Prepare For Assault). He's a guy who's loved highlighting the lesser-known producers (which is best seen on his Weapons of Tomorrow project, which was curated entirely from producers on the legendary DogsOnAcid forum). He's also a producer, dropping a number of singles and remixes over the years as well.
Recently, he touched down at Portland's Whiskey Bar, and for those of you hitting Moonrise this weekend to see the Planet of the Drums crew get down, you can expect some of the bangers in this mix to be featured. Material from Gridlok, Chris.SU, Noisia, and more are featured, but it's great to see that classics like "The Nine" and "Renegade Snares" are also drawn. Dope, live 90 minute mix for the massive out there.
