People that don’t know music probably write Alesia off as the duo that popped off of their co-production on “Bird Machine.” Anyone that has any concept of production quality and musicality can clearly see the bigger picture, and are watching as they are continue to craft some of the most innovative sounds in dance music. Their remix of M.I.A.’s “Pull Up The People” is about to hit a million plays, their Andrea EP was huge (and released by OWSLA), and their remix of Dog Blood’s “Middle Finger Part 2″ was probably the most innovative out of the bunch. We’re legitimately curious why this Parisian force isn’t getting snagged for festivals and being pushed by every blog imaginable, but it probably has everything to do with the fact that the focus is on the music instead of the marketing. Alesia’s latest is simply titled “ACII,” an intoxicating record that continues their refusal to classify themselves by genre, and an offering that THUMP mentioned will be out on OWSLA. We’re curious how this is going to roll out though, as Alesia let it fly for free download on their SoundCloud. The text used in the artwork hilariously questions our system, and sums up the feels of the entire underground in one swift move as well.
