Who in the world is Champagne Drip? Their debut track was a crazy remix of Elliphant's "Revolusion," which was supported by Nest HQ and Trap And Bass, and hit 30K plays while we scratched our heads as no notable artists hit the repost button to fluff results. Believe me, we checked. What we're left wondering is if this an artist that's already known, or simply an incredibly talented producer with a couple cool industry connects? What we're absolutely sure of is that they came flying out of the gate with a banger, and someone anonymously hit me last week with Champagne Drip's forthcoming four-track offering called Radio Bikini that's set to drop next month.
"Radio Bikini" flexes sound design that embarrasses these generic musicians, the ability to jump between club, footwork, and twerk, and we're sitting here listening to someone casually run through these drum licks like we weren't raised on the amen break and living in junglist AOL chatrooms in the '90s. The EP's only feature is from Buygore's Ash Riser, who lends vocals to a psychedelic drum & bass tune called "Honeymoon." The rest of the release is all over the place, and exhibits a phenomenal skill set for this mystery producer.
Though we don't know exactly where or when this EP is going to drop, the private link we got mentioned it would be out sometime next month, and we were given the first premiere for this project for the lead record, "Bermuda." Posi-vibe video game keys weave between amazing percussion, and the swings and variation are absolutely marvelous. We'll be sure to give a heads up when we hear additional details on this release, but the thing that's making us smile is that whoever is trolling us with this project is letting the music speak for itself, and knows that the output is good enough to rise on its' own.
