If you are accustomed to the soothing melodic sounds akin to the chillstep genre that Collin McLoughlin has built a reputation around, this track will certainly shake you up. The little bit of undergraduate psychology I had in college wants to say either he doesn’t want to be tied down or defined by one particular sound, or this song is a true output of emotion. His voice and the lyrics are powered by the feeling behind them, and to me this track is love.
The more listens the more depth with this track. “Background” definitely feels a little like getting to know Collin as we listen to him sing his own vocals in some heartfelt lyrics. The melody reminds me of one of the best songs in electronic music, “Cinema.” McLoughlin sings with power on this track, and later plays the saxophone. The most infectious part of the this melodic dubstep is that it lets you feel the dichotomy of life, with two completely opposite elements dance through the track. The waves and vibes are way too heavy feels for a track review. But it is all the hate and love, peace and war, wrong and right. That is priceless
This is truly some next level shit.
