You don’t consider Stamford, Connecticut as a hotbed of EDM? Well, I’m certain that Stamford resident Garrett Hickey, aka DFACE would gladly tell you differently. For the past few years, the producer has been carving his own niche, making stops in both moombahton and the big room, crafting massively ear-worming pop-friendly delights that were frankly ahead of their time. For his latest single “Come Back” (released through his own personal Bandcamp page), DFACE is finally right on time with EDM at-the-moment. “Come Back” doesn’t just showcase his production chops, but his vocal abilities, too. In an era wherein sustainability is key, the quality of output in the singer-songwriter flexibility showcased here makes DFACE a rare artist in this era. Racing synths and snapping drums meld with Hickey’s more than capable vocal talents for a track that could just as easily feel comfortable with current mainstream pop standards as it would at peak hour at your favorite Vegas megaclub.
