This might be the best mix we've heard in a bit. Back before Diplo was running the EDM scene as a DJ/producer/label head, he was out there putting the sounds he heard in his head into mixtapes and his debut album Florida, which dropped 10 years ago on Ninja Tune sub-label Big Dada. We know he dropped a mix for Solid Steel, which is the weekly radio program that showcases "The Broadest Beats" and is curated by Ninja Tune heads Coldcut alongside DJ Food and DK—but this was in November of 2004. Diplo returns for this week's show, taking over the first two parts for a seriously fresh two-hour set. While he makes sure to touch down with material from 2 Chainz and Jay Dee's remix of Pharcyde's "She Said," he also drops material from Shadow Child, Ta-ku, Cyril Hahn, Bonobo, and Massive Attack's classic "Protection." This mix is perfect for early mornings, chilly afternoons, and space-y evenings. Stream and download below.
