Recently released on Distance‘s Chestplate imprint is a brand new, three-track EP from District, and the first tune (“Roys Theme”) did my head in instantly. While I love a filthy, mind-numbing drop like the best of them, what drew me to dubstep was the more hypnotic, deeper sounds. “Roys Theme” fits that love to a tee, with a somber, soothing dubwise tune filling my room with mounds of bass, accented at times by weird melodies and scorching, echo’d guitars. Altogether a solid tune from a solid release. If you are a fan of the DMZ wave, or want less “bro” (or however you term it) in your dubstep, this comes highly recommended.
