The first time I saw Doctor Jeep play, I probably wasn't supposed to like his set the best.  He was on a lineup featuring the likes of Starkey, Spooky, Shiftee, Dev79, and Elijah.  And though this was one of the musical highlights of my year, the one that blew my mind away was the one that hasn't yet achieved legend status.  It was a set with this sexy danceable hybrid bass music, and it was fucking mind blowing.

Born Andre Lira, this is one American that has the heart of UK tastemakers keyed in.  He's seen radio spins on Rinse FM and numerous looks on BBC Radio 1.  His style is so unique.  Mixing influences so well that a trained ear is nervous to explain them is difficult.  His catalog, and his forthcoming Bird Of Paradise EP do just that.

This release is set to come out on Trouble & Bass on November 19.  They tagged these records as house, bass, and tropical house.  You can certainly hear grime, dubstep, moombahton, and garage influences as well though.  Every single one of these tracks has a swing to them that give them soul and funk.  It's taking conventional bass music to the next level.  This is music that's meant to be enjoyed without skimming or skipping.  Take a moment and treat yourself.
