When we gave you our second round of “50 under 5000,” one name I made sure to include in my personal selections was London’s Emerson Twin. The UK electronic musician first came up on my radar when he emailed me his debut album, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. At the time, the album was released independent of any label or any promotion; just a guy trying to get heard. He came to us again with his take on Four Tet’s “Angel Echoes” and that’s when we really started to get into this guy. Now, after the strength of the remix and the original material, Emerson’s album has been re-released and remastered via French label Cosmonostro as a free download.
If you’re looking to check out some newness from a producer who won’t soon go away, diving into these 13 tracks of purple bass-heavy goodness is a great place to start. Elements of trap, future bass, garage…whatever you might tag this as, there’s no doubt that this is worth multiple listens. Tag this dude under “artists on a serious 2014 come-up.”
