Evol Intent – “Street Knowledge (Eazy E VIP)”

evol-intent-press

Hopefully we have some drum & bass lovers who were around during the 2000s that remember Evol Intent‘s Police State EP on Renegade Hardware. Back then, not only was the trio that ended up birthing Bro Safari, Computer Club, and Treasure Fingers the cream of the American dnb crop, but they were perfecting a fast-paced, glitch-y style of drum & bass that was sweeping both sides of the Atlantic by storm. One of the jewels from that EP was the NWA-sampling “Street Knowledge,” which ended up being remixed a few times. Unearthed today was this Eazy E edit, which goes more into the glitched-out NWA goodness from time to time, in tribute to the NWA capo. It’s been given away for free download, and has properly transported us back to the days where the true dubplate was king, and nothing moved us like beats that were > 170BPM.
