I don’t know who told you otherwise, but disco isn’t dead. NYC’s Follow Me has been gathering a buzz with their sun-soaked disco slow ams and their latest is another fine addition to your late night iPod rotation. “Somethin’ Bout You” combines some classic ’90s-esque R&B vocal sensibilities with a deep disco bounce to make for a delightful foray into the softer sounds of electroinc music. No rage, just groove here.
The duo enlisted Satin Jackets for a remix and the result is even an softer, sexier, and more sensual song that’s as smooth as…. satin. Puns aside, there’s and incredible smoothness to this with his additional glittering piano melodies and strings. This is the sort of tune you can rock to with that special someone on that private beach or you can play for the grandparents to get their hips swaying.
For a second and possbily final remix, Follow Me enlisted Rogue Vogue to put their own spin on the tune. The result? Melodic, up-beat disco house with a driving beat sure to get the party started. A little less groove, and little more pep, Rogue Vogue’s spin cuts away at the original’s understated smoothness to deliver a bit of an in-your-face serving of house music. A quality addition to your DJ sets for sure.
