Friction & Skream - "Kingpin"

While they're both at the forefront of their genres, BBC Radio 1 DJs Friction and Skream aren't producers that you'd think would have linked up to make a track. We know Friction's been in the studio, working on an album and a bunch of other tunes, but yeah... wasn't expecting this one.

MCs Scrufizzer, P Money & Riko Dan stepped up their mic duties for this one, and the build-up is pretty damn intense. Early critics aren't fans of the track once it drops, and it is an unexpected mash of harder-edged guitars atop a hypnotic half-time riddim, but it works for what it is. Red Eye already has this one up as a pre-order item (with a Calyx & Teebee remix already sorted), and it looks like Friction has this one dropping on Shogun Audio. If this is where he's taking it, we're in for an interesting 2013.
