Freakstep Records have been longtime friends of a couple of us here at Do Androids Dance. Their roster is stacked with young talent, and their organic brand of promotion just feels FUN. They are holding down parties in Atlanta, and loading up the releases for this year.
So when I heard that GameFace was releasing his latest EP through this label, I had to smile. We’ve been watching him since his collaboration on “Black Magic” with Hucci, which was undoubtedly the hardest record on the Novacane EP.
GameFace quickly started to build steam, and “Head Bussa” peaked my interest. This deep bass anthem is something that you would imagine an American producer from the south creating. I did a bit of poking around, and found that GameFace is from the Netherlands, and living in London. This was getting interesting…
And most recently, his TrapLife EP came out. This masterfully produced release is almost minimal in production. You don’t hear tons of crazy synths or complicated builds and breakdowns. Just thick drums and sparse samples sequenced masterfully. GameFace gave up a free download of “Savages” yesterday, and we thought it prudent to point you in the direction of this single and the TrapLife EP.
