King Froopy - "Buzz"

Now this is something we don't see every day. King Froopy, someone I've only heard murmurs of previously, is a dude from my hometown of Des Moines, Iowa that is mostly unknown to locals and, well, everyone at this point. Just the other day, however, he passed me an early release of "Buzz," the first single from eponymous Buzz EP, coming in May, and I don't think he's going to be so unheard-of for a whole lot longer.

Mimicking the sound of a vibrating phone, the intro leads you directly into an upbeat, glitchy electro jam that is reminiscent of the best of Madeon and Kavinsky. It's certainly a genre styling that we're familiar with, but the inspiration and emotion behind it really push it into the realm of must-hear; this is a far, far cry the recycled crap-electro that killed the hype around the genre in the first place. "Buzz" is infectiously bouncy and smile-inducing, and a lazy outro aside, it's an exciting first taste of what King Froopy has in store with his first full release.

There's more of Froopy to check out on his YouTube channel - his 50-track mash up "L.O.V.E." is the only mash I've cared about in five years and it's got a sick video to boot. This guy might be the newest of newcomers, but consider our interest piqued. I'll be (not so) patiently waiting for the EP in May.
