You have to love when unexpected dope shit falls into place. Earlier this week, DJ Craze went in on this "New Slaves" routine, which went viral and made me look at a number of DJ Craze's past routines. While I was spending the mid-to-late '90s discovering electronic music, I was also spending time falling in love with the art of turntablism, and I'm glad that all of this has come full circle, especially when it comes to Holland's Kypski. Kypski could be a well-known to some, but for those not aware, the Utrecht native is a four-time National Turntable Champion of the Netherlands, and was a part of The WaxWankerz turntablism crew, the Matangi String Quartet, and worked on a project with C-Mon. Earlier this month, Kypski's Wreck Fader album dropped via Lowriders, highlighting the future of turntablism, which sounds a lot like pure hip-hop colliding with electronic music. The album featured vets like D-Styles and EPMD's K La Boss, but didn't include this track we're giving away, "Rollin," which is a chilled piece of work that finds Kypski intricately constructing a groove by scratching bass, percussion, horns, and more into a beautiful stew. If you close your eyes and feel the music, you might not even realize how he's layering things in.
