Major Lazer continues to leverage the goodwill they accumulated through their first album and occasional moments of brilliance like "Bumaye" to get us to pay attention to what is often an uninspired and sometimes criminal filtering of dancehall through an EDM lens. It's not to say that it can't or shouldn't be done, but rather that the way that they mostly go about it, as exemplified through this track with Trinidad's Flipo is to just take generic big room sounds and have a Caribbean vocalist, or someone imitating that, go over the beat. This track could just have any vocalist on it. There is nothing specifically dancehall about the beat. If I seem frustrated it's that they've made really great tracks the perfectly channel the spirit of dancehall and electronic music into something interesting. This is not one of those times.
