Recently, I've been digging through my CD archives, digitally converting everything. I happened upon a number of Ninja Tune albums and compilations, circa 1996-2000 or so, and realized how much Coldcut's imprint had an impact on me. While I've always been a fan of electronic music, I love seeing these different genres get bent and twisted with a DJ/hip-hop mentality, which Coldcut and the outfits they signed would always seem to throw in there. They must have always been underdogs, and I'm quite surprised their Facebook page is only at ~203K likes, but to celebrate that feat, they put together a 12-track sampler, giving away fresh material from the likes of Lee Bannon, FaltyDL, Lapalux, and others, including Switch's remix of "Worst Enemy" by Toddla T Sound. Leftfield delights; don't sleep or try to fight.
