Om Unit is an artist I’m surprised I’ve not featured on DAD before. He’s an artist that fits in the same conversation as an Addison Groove or Machinedrum, straddling a huge array of genres while maintaining this core “sound.” He’s the kind of producer who can drop a massive single on Metalheadz in 2013, after spending time as Philip K Dick, refixing past jungle classics as new school footwork tunes. The last three years of output as Om Unit have been a whirlwind of creativity, culminating in the release of his fourth studio album, Threads, which drops on October 28. While that project boasts 15 tunes, this track “The Red Curtain” was a discarded gem that Mixmag ended up giving away for free, and it feels like the perfect electronic fall treat. Proper “late-night stroll through a misty back alley with only your headphones and a pea coat to keep you sane” music.
