Sandwich Island Bass are regulars on DAD because they keep cranking out interesting twists on the current global bass genres. Here they take zouk bass, a genre which I found problematic at it’s inception since it was the least dancefloor ready genre to come around in years, and make a really good tune that I could definitely see myself playing in a club at peak time. It’s not a banger per se, but it’s pretty damn heavy. When I look back at their output recently they’ve actually done quite a bit of work at legitimizing zouk bass beyond just the interesting experiment it started out as. I guess my point is: if you haven’t paid attention yet, you should.
