DAD’s always on the hunt for those different sounds, and this forthcoming album from Sarantis, Electric City, is chock full of leftfield flavors. Take the title track, for examples; you’ve got a cornucopia of sounds, from video game/chiptune soundtracks mashing up with the infectious, percussion-heavy rhythms. At some points it feels like footwork. Whatever you want to call it, there’s no choice to even attempt to stand still while this is going down. And don’t get it twisted: The rest of Electric City isn’t even on this level. It comes in a number of different bass-driven hues, and it’s all fly. Catch it when it drops via Senseless on May 27.
