Kids these days. Shamana, a Cleveland, Ohio-based alumnus of the under-18 producer collective SOMICO and current Kolossus Records squad member, has just turned out what may be the trillest remix of Wiz Khalifa yet produced. A screwed to hell (and back) flip of “James Bong,” Shamana’s “Dolphin Splash It When I Whip It” takes the Internet-age thug aesthetic back to the days of proper DJ Screw production tactics, giving us a lesson on how to slow your roll and really sound like it means bossed-up business. Funny how it’s sometimes the young guns who understand how influences of yesteryear provide the best fuel for modern-day creativity. Can’t wait to see what else Shamana has up his sleeve. You can grab this (and a bunch of other Shamana shit) for pay-what-you want (even if it’s nothing) via his Bandcamp.
