Normally my tastes run into more of the footwork/drum & bass realm on the regular, but there’s so much in that UK grime/bass music scene that’s killing me that I can’t help it. We just got some new Slackk via the Boxed, Vol. 2 compilation, but today he drops his four-track EP Dyework, which he describes as a “couple of rollers and a cover of a Malaysian folk song.” Cuts like “Aztec” immediately speak to me, with that hypnotic distortion. Right up my alley. Dyework serves as Slackk’s first 2014 release, and should get you ready for his forthcoming Local Action release.
