The last time we checked in with former Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello, he was contemplating "going indie" on his forthcoming Columbia Records album project Wild Youth, due this fall. What "going indie" meant was far beyond our comprehension, but with the release of Wild Youth's lead single "Wasted Love," it apparently means "indie rock," as the single features lead singer from popular Australian rock quartet the Temper Trap, Dougy Mandagi. Of course, for those keeping score, these are the same Temper Trap whose 2009 global hit pop single "Sweet Disposition" was remixed by Dirty South and then-Swedish House Mafia member Axwell).

A calming synth melody is buoyed by a billowy and lovelorn vocal, as a metronomic bassline eventually buoys the track. From there, the signature kicks and white noise fall into place for the full presentation of a big room and festival smasher. In the same vein as "Don't You Worry Child," a similar style is likely to meet a similar Top 40 expectation for the now solo Swedish house master Angello.
