While Ta-ku has dazzled a number of outlets and imprints with his electric-leaning vibes, he has a hip-hop flair that proceeded that sound. He indulges that need via Jakarta, who has released a number of projects from like-minded producers. To celebrate the summer, a Summer In Jakarta compilation is said to be dropping for free next week, with previously-unrelased contributions from 20syl, IAMNOBODI, and a host of other producers I'm not up on. Being the laidback cat I am, I got cozy with "Uh," Ta-ku's contribution, and it's a gem. A title taken from a sampled voice that's synonymous with breakbeat culture in hip-hop, resting over some Dilla-esque drunken drums? The shit is beyond perfect.
