The Truth’s website boasts “face the truth or get out of the way.” A little play on words that is ever so appropriate as a tagline for these guys. Their website is dark and foreboding, as is their sound. It is the true spirit of dubstep, a genre most consider dead and gone. This duo out of New Zealand begs to differ by bringing their dark, ambient sound from New Zealand to the world. They have traveled practically everywhere, delivering soul-seeping sounds to five different continents.
Truth is made up of Andre Fernandez and Tristan Roake, producers and DJs that have made a name for themselves as this international dubstep duo. Their sound and feel is much like that of some of the heavier dubstep artists known in America, even remnant of the robotic futuristic act Destroid. There is something lying underneath of all that, some beauty in the breakdown, a peace that comes from total destruction. This type of stuff is the hardcore, heavy metal, headbanger music of rock and roll, translated into electronic music. Even their artwork is amazingly creepy.
This banger is out now on Rottun. Beware, if you don’t like dubstep or mosh music, this probably isn’t for you. If the first drop doesn’t have you banging your head and feeling the very deep bassline, don’t wait around for the second, more sinister drop. The anonymous superhero can definitely get down to this hard hitting track, but it isn’t for everyone. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. And if you’re trying to see Truth live, they’re currently touring North America; hit their site for more details.
