Back in December, we covered TNA Impact Wrestling performer Zema Ion's evolution into a real-life DJ, a growth that was then reflected in his bad-guy DJ character being placed with the Bro-Mans (Robbie E and Jesse Godderz) tag team in an on-air role in the 12-year-old professional wrestling organization. As a performer, his role has grown since then, as the rechristened DJ Z is not just paired with the now tag-team championship duo the Bro-Mans, he has also excelled as an in-ring competitor, too. His series of on-air and live event matches with high-flying and fast-paced "X Division" champion Sanada being a key piece of said development. And, of course, he's not just unmistakable for his wrestling, but his DJ Z character is also a big fan of making tropical sound system airhorn sounds with his mouth, the "buh buh bun buuuuhhh" now a highlight catchphrase repeated by fans at his TNA-related appearances.
Seven months later, Zema is now just simply known as DJ Z in TNA, and as a DJ outside of the ring, he's evolved into Vam Paris. Regarding the switch, the wrestler-turned-DJ born Michael Paris says the following:
"I DJ under the name Vam Paris instead of DJ Z, because I don't want my TV exposure to be used as a way to shortcut the dance music scene. DJ Z is a character that I play on television. I didn't want or expect any handouts just because I'm on television, ya know? I've been paying my dues for years and trying to establish myself just like any other DJ/producer. But where does Vam Paris come from? .......It was my MySpace name back in the day."
To celebrate how far he's come as both a wrestler and DJ (and Do Androids Dance's role in both), he's dropped a new mix exclusive to DAD. As DJ Z, he's landing death-defying maneuvers in the ring. As well, as Vam Paris he has a forthcoming Sway in the Morning on Sirius' Shade 45 on August 4th, party residency at the "Durty Talk" party at Debonair Nightclub in his current home of Chicago, and plans on growing as a producer, too. Thus, from turning up, to dropping the heaviest of house, and generally ready to cause a wild party overall, this mix is a perfect accompaniment for a long (or wanting to feel like you're on a permanent) weekend.
