This is the calm before the storm, people; while dance clubs will always have DJs playing, the Ultra Music Festival (and the number of EDM events and festivals that follow suit) is going down next month in Miami, and with it comes a number of interesting bookings: primarily Pusha T, Waka Flocka, RiFF RAFF, Chance the Rapper, and potentially more rap acts. This isn't new, as the 2013 EDM festival circuit was filled to the brim with everyone from Snoop Dogg to 2 Chainz playing prominent EDM festivals; we're even in a situation where DJs like Flosstradamus, Diplo, Baauer, and others spin sets that cater to rap-loving fans. You know what that means, right? There's an EDM fan in your crew and UOENO... yet.
The plight of a rap fan getting bitten by the EDM bug is always an intriguing one; they have friends who might not "fuck with that shit," and will clown someone for playing Skrillex or Steve Aoki around them. We're not saying you need to diss your friends who are listening to EDM, but here are some sure signs that your homey is getting turnt to the sounds of EDM.
They start asking if you want to go with them to Miami
They love Side B of Danny Brown's "Old" way more than Side A
They totally understand Waka Flocka's thoughts on "the rave"
"The rave" can truly change your life.
They tell you they want to get caked
They start rocking kandi to class... and everywhere else
Forget Pharrell; they couldn't wait to see Daft Punk during the Grammys
When a fight breaks out, they try to calm things down by screaming "PLUR"
You catch them sketching out ideas for their ideal mau5head
Their favorite track on "Long.Live.A$AP?" "Wild 4 The Night," obvs
Fuck being polite...
