Tech house seems to be a pretty misunderstood genre. In the States, at least, tech house is often met with tired complaints of repetitiveness and a lack of musicality. To those people, I’d say meet Joris Voorn. The Dutchman has been a leading figure in the global tech house scene, having released multiple albums, including his most recent Nobody Knows, and been responsible for peak-time anthems like “Goodbye Fly” and “Spank The Maid.” Voorn has toured the world, played festivals, and just generally held it down as a king of tech house. With Nobody Knows, Voorn expanded his tech house sound and incorporated an indie vibe that could be appreciated at home by a fire just as easily as in the club. Certainly not all the cuts are tech house–some would be better labeled as deep house or some sort of electronica–but there’s a distinctly focused sound; just as we’ve come to expect and appreciate from Voorn.
