Bass Coast is one of western Canada's premier summer festivals, taking place in Merritt, British Columbia from August 1-4, 2014. In its sixth year, the multimedia festival covers everything across the world's art, music, and visual spectrum; paired with the lush backdrop of Merritt's coast, the festival provides the attendees with an all-around experience.
As usual, Bass Coast 6: Mutiny is stacked this year with a very diverse lineup spanning North America and Europe, covering all the bases (pun intended). Here are 10 of the artists at Bass Coast that you shouldn't miss...
Natasha Kmeto (Portland, Oregon)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/natashakmeto
Hailed the "Bass Queen of Portland," multi-versed singer/songwriter Natasha Kmeto takes you on a leftfield journey, combining a live performance with her deep, soulful vocals and productions.
Bogl (Los Angeles, CA)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/griffinbogl
As head of the Soundpieces crew in San Francisco, Bogl is known for bringing the most upfront styles in dubstep, house and hip hop to the Bay. With his recent relocation to the City of Angels, his set at Bass Coast will showcase the finest of low-end selections from both cities.
dBridge (London, UK)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/dbridge
Metalheadz, Bad Company UK, Autonomic, Exit Records–all terms lead straight to the catalogs of Darren White aka dBridge, the don of creating cutting edge drum & bass arrangements with a keen ear on techno, juke, and footwork.
Jubilee (New York, NY)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/jubileedj
Originally from Miami, Jubilee's native town shines through her productions. Her recent linkup with dancehall/tropical bass label Mixpak sees Jubilee pushing the global vibe to more unexplored territories.
Sabota (Vancouver, Canada)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/sabota
Sabota are the creative pairings of Max Ulis and Robbie Slade. "Means Saturday in Polish but don't let that fool you, this man is a booty smacker" reads their SoundCloud profile, and Sabota's sleek percussive rhythms prove just that.
Sergio Levels (Calgary, Canada)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/sergiolevels
Highly-decorated Calgarian Sandro P. brings to the techno realm a sound influenced by that of Detroit and Berlin, but with a very experimental approach. Get ready to think (as well as dance) when you hear him perform.
Monolithium (Victoria, Canada)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/monolithiummm
Is it Acid? Is it tech-house? Is it industrial? Listening to Monolithium's energetic productions live will allow you to answer all of those questions... or the complexity of it all might just keep you guessing.
Longwalkshortdock (Vancouver, Canada)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/longwalkshortdock
Gritty, buzzing, funky robotic four-to-the-floor rhythms are the styles that Dave King aka Longwalkshortdock are bringing to the table at Bass Coast this year. While his name essentially means to shut up, you won't be doing anything of the like during his time on the stage.
Addison Groove (Bristol, England)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/addisongroove
Addison Groove is hands down one of the UK's crown purveyors of bass music, working with everyone from Scratch DVA to DJ Rashad. Expect to hear some prime TR-808 trickery from one of the best to do it.
G Jones (Santa Cruz, California)
SoundCloud URL: soundcloud.com/gjonesbass
G Jones' productions are some of the tightest out there right now and have been for a while. One listen to the free track below will let you know exactly why he is on this Bass Coast lineup set to deliver the proper goods.
