Back in the spring, we were hype over Jon Kwest's "Jack the Moombah" project. September hit, and we were amazed with what he'd been doing with the go-go scene. Both of those projects make sense, as moombahton and go-go are products of the DC area, where Kwest currently resides. That's not all you can define Kwest as, which he pulls off perfectly with his new mix, "The Dumb Out." Moombah and go-go, hip-hop and twerk, Jon digs deep and churns out a raucous set, not only living up to its name but highlighting how diverse the dance music truly has been. If your idea of EDM is nothing but big room house or whatever is on the UMF main stage, you're doing your dance music palette a disservice. Plus, there's just something that's sexy as hell about the grooves in a track like "Rollin," a Jon Kwest original. You might want to claim the downstairs wreck room as yours and throw a proper house party to t his one.
