Before I hit you with the final DAD Mix of 2014, let me tell you a bit of a story. For those who don't know, I mess with UK grime on the regular, and one of my favorite DJ/producer types in that scene is the one like Spooky. I forget what mix it was, but over the summer, I heard a mix he did that had some SICK tunes in it. I figured they were his because I know he's big on flipping hip-hop tracks into hectic grime bits. I hit him on the batphone about the tunes I was going crazy for, and that's when he let me know that they were produced by his boy Trends, who graciously sorted me out the tunes in question (one of which you can hear with a sick Riko Dan vocal around 4:42 in this set, with the second right after). We got to talking, and he said he'd sort a DAD Mix for us no problem. For some reason I got this a little later than he said it'd come, and ended up having it on the back burner for far too long. We're open today, and I'm in a happy mood, so I wanted to sort out this mix for you androids who are looking for something tough. You'll hear the voices of Big Narstie, Wiley (via Trends' own "Step 20" remix), and other grime MCs, alongside instrumentals from Spooky, a rework of Drake's "Pound Cake," and so much more. Toast the new year with this hype set.
