February was "Access All Areas" month for BBC Radio 1, and a while ago we told you that Diplo was going to be dropping a show based solely on the submissions he received leading up to this event. This weekend, he went in the mix, dropping a host of tunes from producers all over the globe. Many of the artists we had heard of, and posted before, but we're not sure if everyone is keeping up, so it made sense to hand-pick producers that we feel you, the DAD readers, should be keeping up with. Thank DAD later.
ISLND
Location: Sydney, Australia
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/islnd
Two things: 1) Australia is putting out some serious material right now (with everyone from Flume to Ta-Ku representing for the region), and 2) this is the kind of bouncey joint that we have a feeling Diplo would be rocking to. So much so that he began his "Access All Areas" mix with this number. Go on, you know you want to splash this with all kinds of feels.
Wall
Location: Dallas, TX
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/wall_bass
We actually love that Diplo selected a tune we gave some shine to, dropping Wall's Main Course monster "Nikes." Wall's a 21-year-old producers from Dallas that's doing his thing, representing everything from the multi-faceted bass music sound to some pretty massive house.
Kayzo
Location: Los Angeles, CA
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/kayzo-music
Kayzo is another producer that we've been showing love to here on DAD. He's been known to remix anything that isn't nailed down, but his original tunes are pretty damn impressive. We loved "Tekken," and it's great to see that Diplo did as well.
Robs & Duke
Location: Jena, Germany
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/robsduke
It's amazing to look through Diplo's tracklist and see tunes that we actually dropped. We know he didn't get this from us, but still. Robs & Duke is a duo out of Germany dropping hot heat in the 100-112BPM zone. "Bushfire" is a perfect example of why you need to make them a part of your life.
Hammo Sung
Location: DMV
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/hammosung
Hammo Sung's been a mainstay on DAD, for good reason: he can knock out some choice moombahton seemingly at will. Diplo chose a slick remix of an Angger Dimas tune that Hammo remixed, but his recently-released "El Arroyo" might light a fire in whatever dancehall you drop it in.
Infuze
Location: NYC
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/infuze
Seeing Infuze on this tracklist was also a stellar feat. He's spent the last year really making a solid impression on the bass music loving massive out there, scoring official remixes for David Heartbreak while also putting out material with Flinch on Smog. His name's already shining bright, but it's always amazing when one of the top selectors out there bigs him up with an inclusion.
Yarin Lidor
Location: Tel Aviv, Israel
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/yarin
From big room to bedroom, Yarin Lidor has been killing it. He has a way of approaching bass music that makes us get all emo, even when we're trying to keep our bassface in tact. Dude's on it, and will continue to captivate us until we beg for mercy.
Etienne Futur
Location: Boston, MA
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/etienne-futur
Etienne is one of those jack-of-all-trades producers; he has no problem touching down on moombahton, indie dance, trap, Dutch house, and other sounds. Diplo snapped up a moombah rework of Rihanna's "Diamonds," and we have a feeling that this Bostonite's productions could be getting into a number of different sets if he keeps dropping impressive sounds.
HYDRABADD
Location: Atlanta, GA
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/hydrabadd
If you are up on the bass music family known as VAVLT, you should already be up on this ATL bass music duo. What's refreshing about them (and partly why we know VALVT co-signs them) is that they don't just go for the obvious in 808 banger music. They are really about enticing you with sound, and have no problem providing you eclectic styles of turn up. You'd be silly to sleep on their journey.
Emerald Soul
Location: Atlanta, GA
SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/emerald-soul
Now this was an awesome find. This guy is sitting at under 100 SoundCloud followers, and the only tune on his page is "Stare," which is apparently dropping on an EP that should be out in mid-2014. We love our chilled vibes, and something about Emerald Soul's vibe is hitting us in the right spot right now.
