In August of 2013, we took a look at EDM's obsession with cats. Part of that was a string of songs and overall feline fun that pervades much of EDM. The thing is, we just scratched the surface. Since that post dropped, we've seen EDM producers as cats in videos, cats as EDM producers on Tumblr, cats on cars, cats catching the bass... you get the picture. EDM land is full of cats, and with today being National Hug Your Cat Day, we decided to go back into the kitten's den and check out more instances of the worlds of EDM and felines colliding.
Flux Pavilion and Dillon Francis as cats
How this video hasn't gone viral is beyond me. Flux and Dillon had the idea to put their faces on cat bodies and this clip turned into mayhem. Pure, hilarious mayhem.
Cats as Skrillex
Alvin Risk vs. Nyancat
Nothing says EDM cat loving that OWSLA's Alvin Risk dropped a clip where he goes on an adventure with Nyancat.
deadmau5 woke up in a new Purrari
We know that deadmau5 is a fan of cars (and cats), and him putting the two together was obviously bound to happen. The Nyancat-inspired paint job on his Ferrari, though? In-sane. The best part? He's actually going to be driving the Purrari during this year's Gumball 3000! #TeamPurrari
Paul Woolford presents a Dance Music Cat Exercise Class
Truthfully, we're not sure who came up with this idea, but whomever was able to work a (small) narrative around the idea of women in leotards exercising with their cats is a genius.
Bare Noize went all meow meow
I can't front; I'm not sure where a tune entitled "Plant Tune" and the random "meow meow" sounds in this tune come together, but if there ever was a remix to that Dubstep Cat video, this might need to be the tune used.
Why is Monstercat called Monstercat?
Or maybe it's the other way around...
Seriously, maybe the EDM heads who love cats have turned their felines into EDM heads themselves. One of these days, maybe EVERY cat will be turning up the beats, trying to catch that bass.
