Interview: Robbie Rivera Speaks on Puerto Rico, Juicy Beach, and Picking Talent

House music has pretty much always been a global thing.  People from all over the world, regardless of race, creed, or class, have gotten down to the straight beat funkiness. When I say global, you’re probably thinking of the Swedes or the Dutch as they have dominated most recently, but in this case I’m talking about Puerto Rico’s Robbie Rivera.  Although he mentions other latino producers such as Erick Morillo and Masters At Work as his main influences, Robbie has been able to make a career crafting his own unique house sound. DJing around the world (like his Juicy parties in Ibiza), running his Juicy Music label and putting on the annual Juicy Beach party during Miami Music Week are just some of the ways that Mr. Rivera has made his mark.

Years into his career, he’s still kicking it on a world tour.  The tour launched last month in NYC at the Pacha, but not before we got to talk with him.
