The Melbourne bounce scene (or Melbourne house as it is also know known) has continued to grow. As of late, Will Sparks has remixed the Robin Thicke's massive Top 40 smash "Blurred Lines" in a Melbourne bounce style, Laidback Luke has done remixes in the same vein, TJR's Beatport #1 "What's Up Suckaz" embodies the sound just as his last #1 "Ode To Oi" did, too. MAKJ is playing edits with it, and Reece Low has got a Melbourne-flavored single coming on Dim Mak. This has truly been a long time coming.

You might be asking, though: "what the hell is a Melbourne bounce?" A progression from the uptempo, horn-infused Dutch house style, Melbourne bounce (which also at times fuses elements of acid house and psytrance) is a descendant of the electro house umbrella with inspiring party-hardy jams, raucous horns, and goofy, fun-loving sensibilities. The squelching horns will melt your mind on at a big festival stage or on a huge system. Don't be fooled by the style's sometimes comical nature, as there's no joke about this music. Since we know you'll be hearing more about this scene in the coming months, we decided to put you on to 10 Melbourne bounce DJs you need to know.

TJR

Not Available Interstitial

No he's not from Melbourne or even Australia for that matter, but Rising Music star TJR is no question the #1 name you need to know. Though he originally claimed fame and a #1 Beatport spot with his Toots and The Maytals-sampled "Funky Vodka" track, the Californian producer/DJ has carved out an infectious brand of AC/DC-infused Melbourne house. After starting off with an edit of Will Sparks' "Ah Yeah," TJR has taken the bouncy sound to new festival heights with a party-hardy attitude on his recent club smashers and #1 hits "Ode To Oi" and "What's Up Suckaz?." and destroyed festivals with his crowd-pleasing and dynamic sets. Oh, he's already a platinum award-winning artist on top of all that, with production credits for Pitbull under his belt.

Will Sparks

Music isn't supposed to be about awards or stats, but look at Will Sparks' numbers and co-signs and there's definitely something there. The 20-year-old producer seems poised to explode in North America after his most recent remix of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and other recent successes such as "Ah Yeah" and "The Viking." It seems odd that despite gaining support from the likes of Laidback Luke, David Guetta, Madeon, Dada Life, Chuckie, and A-Trak, Will Sparks has seemingly flown under the radar. That's about to change as WIll embarks on a North American tour. Expect Will to be on the North American festival circuit in 2014.

Uberjak'd

Not Available Interstitial

Uberjak'd is a name the real crate diggers and bloggers might have already picked up on. The Aussie has had releases on Laidback Luke's Mixmash, won acclaim down under, played around the world alongside names like Calvin Harris, and he's got a simple outlook: Uberjak'd believes that “Music shouldn’t be taken too seriously, and if it is, then you’re seriously doing something wrong,” and it shows in his music. Uberjak'd's electro-edged Melbourne sound is particularly hard-hitting as he has taken current Dutch sound an taken it even further, keeping the Melbourne bounce alive with an anthemic edge. As more and more look down under, expect Uberjak'd to get some big labels on his tail.

Reece Low

Not Available Interstitial

Reece Low is a name that's just starting to creep into the North American consciousness. His tunes have already been picked up by the likes of Porter Robinson, Lazy Rich, and TJR, and now he's got a collaboration with Mercer (of "Welcome To The Jungle" fame) coming out next month on Dim Mak. MAKJ is making mashups with his tunes, too! The point is, Reece Low's stock is rising and you can get on the train now while there's still room.

Joel Fletcher

Being tabbed to mix a Ministry of Sound compilation is one of they many milestones in world-class DJ's career, and that's exactly what Joel Fletcher got to do. Putting together the This Is...Melbourne Bangers compilation, Fletcher curated a mix featuring tracks from the scene's best and brightest and in doing so cemented his own status. The young producer has garnered multiple awards from Australian dance juggernaut inthemix and continues to gain international recognition. We're just waiting for that big record buster.

Deorro

Not Available Interstitial

It might seem like he exploded out of nowhere, but Deorro previously went by Ton!c. The Calfornian has been rocking the decks for a few years now and has become a sensation in Australia with his sound, closing the main stage at the Good Life Festival 2012 in Australia (alongside Skrillex and Steve Angello) for over 30,000 people. With releases on Dim Mak, Mixmash, Rock The Houze, and Ultra Records, Deorro is poised to continue his ride at the top of the Melbourne house wave.

Orkestrated

Not Available Interstitial

Australian duo Orkestrated, Adam Bartas and Dean Paps, have become synonymous with the Melbourne sound, and for good reason. Orkestrated has been around for nearly two decades earning the nickname the "Godfathers of Melbourne Sound" and have been behind a number of the sound's big hits like "Slickestrated" and "Nightcrawler." The group recently collaborated on the appropriately-titled "Melbourne Bounce" with Tommie Sunshine and The Disco Fries (aka Fries & Shine), a track that made waves and continues to rack up acclaim down under. Expect that their records start getting played here as more catch on to the sound.

Timmy Trumpet

Not Available Interstitial

Beginning as a classically-trained jazz musician, the aptly named Timmy Trumpet has carved a nice space out for himself. Creating a hybrid live trumpet/DJ setup, Timmy Trumpet has played Thailand's famed Full Moon Party, appeared regularly on the Stafford Brothers' TV show, played alongside Erick Morillo at Pacha Ibiza, was named the #7 DJ in Australia in 2011, and continues to grow his pedigree. Now he's been tabbed to mix a compilation for Ministry of Sound and he's getting ready to pounce on the bounce explosion.

SCNDL

Not Available Interstitial

They've had support from the likes of Porter Robinson, Dada Life, TJR, and Joel Fletcher included them in his Ministry of Sound mix. If you're a fan of MAKJ or Robbie Rivera's Juicy Music imprint, you know this name because they just did an official remix for MAKJ on Juicy Music. As the duo's records continued to get played here, expect these two ride the wave.

JDG

Not Available Interstitial

With support from big names like Hardwell, Chuckie, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and TJR, JDG has been on a tear, building up his catalog. His take on #1 smash hit "Thrift Shop" has garnered over 322,000 plays, exemplifying that the youngin has what it takes to get people moving. Now that he's on the radar of some big DJs, expect his career to tick up a bit now.
