If you're like us, one of the few places on TV you could see electronic music growing up was on MTV. We remember staying up late to catch Amp, their iconic electronic music block, as well as the times that, say, their 12 Angry Viewers show featured Roni Size / Reprazent's "Brown Paper Bag" (which achieved a perfect score), or seeing acts like The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim blew up with intriguing videos and personalities in the "electornica" era. And while the dance music scene in the American mainstream died out, dance music still thrived... and it feels like MTV left it by the wayside. It makes sense, but it also kind of sucks.

Fast forward to today where, like it or not, we have the EDM scene of today on fire in a way that eclipses even the late-'90s boom. Festivals are bigger, DJs are being paid well, and for the first time the major labels are investing real dollars into brands, trying to align themselves with the artists of today. And where do we get to see the vibrant life on the one "Music Television" channel? At 3AM. What gives? We know there are some competent individuals over there, and the EDM content they do produce is great, but is there something about the EDM scene that makes MTV hesitant to truly embrace? It feels like there may be. Don't believe us? Take a look at some of the reasons why we feel this way.
