Some of us knew it when we first heard it. For others, it took some time to really sink in. Once it hit you, though, you were hooked. It's hard to believe, but one of the biggest hits of 2014 was O.T. Genasis' viral smash "CoCo." Over a hard trap beat, O.T. gets damn near operatic over how much he loves powder cocaine, baking soda, and everything else involved in manufacturing narcotics for consumption. Moral issues aside, you could feel his charisma jumping out of the track, and if anything, many of us have started holding how hands in the air to help emphasize shit we can't get enough of.

That said, it was only a matter of time before remixes came into play.

With 2014 being so iffy on SoundCloud hosting remixes (because copyright laws and other factors that impede one of the only proven ways that artists get noticed and ahead), it's been great to see producers step up and work their electronic being into "CoCo" fantasies. What's even doper is that while many producers will fall into the trap of flavor-of-the-month sounds, we've seen "CoCo" get morphed into a few tempos, for good or ill. Let's take a look at the 10 best remixes of O.T. Genasis' "CoCo."

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (DJ Madd OD Baking Soda Remix)"

Madd OD gets points for bringing the moombah to the "CoCo." The dueling "in love with the coco" and "baking soda" samples is fly, and we can only imagine how the crowds start winding when this one gets steam. It's also surprising that these viral hits aren't being turned into moombahton masterpieces more often.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (Panic x Amaze Remix)"

It's gotten to the point where I'm not even worrying about WHEN a Jersey club remix of a viral rap hit will touch down; I'm just wondering who will knock out the fiercest version. Jersey DJs Panic and Amaze brought the punishing kicks on this one, with dope vocal chops placed exactly where you'd expect them to be. It's almost too short, but it does what it needs to do to the dancefloor.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (MAKJ Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

Were you in need of a main stage EDM remix of "CoCo?" MAKJ has you covered. It's no surprise that more electro house remixes weren't made, but we're wondering how many people actually wanted this. Still, for what it is, it jams.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (TrapZillas, RiFF RAFF & Major Lazer Remix)”

Not Available Interstitial

Sometimes you need a 16 from a certified "EDM rapper" like RiFF RAFF to get your remix out there. We'd initially heard the TrapZillas remix, which is probably the only trap rework of "CoCo" we want to hear, but once Major Lazer got their mittens on it, something told them that RiFF was needed. We're not mad at the results, although we kind of wish RiFF had some more bars for it.

And if you wanted the RiFF RAFF-less version, get the TrapZillas version, it's yours:

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (KickRaux Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

This could be the trappiest trap remix of "CoCo" ever. KickRaux ordered a load of gunshots, distorted vocals, sub-rumbling bass, and hella triplet snares. It's the trap remix that true trap diehards will wake up yearning for.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (Linz Prag Remix)"

Not Available Interstitial

As much as we want to write off obvious trap reworks of songs like "CoCo," you can't hate on what Linz did here. Instead of making it rise and ascend for the obvious buildup-drop-breakdown-buildup-drop structure for the electronic set, Linz Prag drops this version with some interesting melodies. It's hard to place, but makes this one turn up just as hard while giving you some really diverse vibes.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (Bot & Genghis Clan Rework)”

Not Available Interstitial

One of the things we didn't want when "CoCo" went viral was a trunk full of trap remixes of "CoCo." Doing it well is dope, but the track is literally about what goes on in the trap... why do you need to trap out a trap track? Bot and Genghis Clan understood that and threw some booming house grooves under the original. The main reason it works as a DJ tool is that the house in this take isn't all over, so you get some dope lulls from the original before it really kicks into high gear.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (DJ Fire Bootleg)"

Not Available Interstitial

Jersey's DJ Fire took his vocal chopping to another level on his "CoCo" bootleg. There's something about the way he chose to just single out "I'm in love!" over his Jersey club rhythms. It's dancefloor foreplay at its finest, with "I'm in love witht he coco" being the best climax. Pretty refreshing to hear someone take the sound and turn it on its ear.

O.T. Genasis - “CoCo (Stabber & Lazy Ants Bootleg)”

Not Available Interstitial

While Madd OD's "Baking Soda" remix was a moombahton delight, Lucky Beard squad members Stabber and Lazy Ants went ham with their club rework, which brought the baking soda front and center. So many of these reworks got hype off of the "coco" in the hook that it was ill to see a remix drop that made it a point to chop up what's arguably the most unforgettable aspect of "CoCo."

Trippy Turtle - “FoFo”

Not Available Interstitial

Trippy Turtle, you are that dude. While we've received Jersey takes on "CoCo," Trippy took it to the next level, especially since he used this remix to show love for his FofoFadi crew. There's that lush vibe about this (which is accentuated in the vibes and guitar that he throws in there), but then it gets super rough with the rhythm. The Big Sean and Drake samples in here send this one into the stratosphere.
