It's kind of crazy when you think about how much the electronic music scene has changed. For a spell, everything from the weirdest of techno to the freshest of drum & bass was only available on vinyl. This isn't even that long ago - vinyl was the preferred medium for drum & bass until the mid-2000s or so. Seeing how, now, everything is digital, you can almost forget the history of cutting dubplates and carrying crates to gigs. And while the new model just doesn't cater to the music lover who swears by physical copies, that doesn't mean you can't find quality electronic music on vinyl. For this, we love to celebrate Record Store Day, where the independent shops stand proud and highlight this culture.
This week, the official Record Store Day releases for 2014 were announced, and we love the enthusiasm of the releases being done exclusively for this date. Everything from b-sides and new remixes hitting physical mediums to a goddamn cassette release of one of 2014's most important albums, check out the releases you should be looking out for on April 19, 2014 for Record Store Day.
