On July 29, Ministry of Sound released the Trance Nation compilation, which was mixed by UK producer Lange. It made sense to bring Lange in for this edition, as for the fifteen years he's been one of leaders within the trance scene. Whether it's having his song "Our Way Home" playlisted on MTV last year or his string of remixes for everyone from The Pet Shop Boys and Above & Beyond to Ferry Corsten and Dash Berlin, he's been exciting crowds worldwide with his music. We wanted to get to know more about Lange, his influences, and what he has coming soon, and in six questions he gives us all of that... and more. Here is Six of a Kind: Lange.
My hero producer
The producer who's productions I'm most regularly surprised by
My most recent work
My latest is a more underground instrumental and it’s quite hard to define what it is really. I guess that's a good thing!?! It's called "A Different Shade Of Crazy" and is out now on my own imprint, Lange Recordings. I guess if I had to attempt a description I'd say it starts with a driving techno edge to it, building to a soundtrack-choir and piano kind of drop. Then in slams a kind of brassy electro riff and a fat whiny bassline, before it kicks in with a more laidback grooved electro-tech feel! And if that doesn't make any sense, check it out here:
The track from my past history that I most regularly return to
My favorite track of all time
Ah, I really can't answer that. It changes daily and I honestly don't know where to start narrowing it down! Fail, sorry. (Ed. Note: Lange is pushed at this point and manages to thin it down to his favorite of the month!) Ok, so that’d be the "club mix" of Andy Moor's "I Be." Classic Andy Moor vocal chops, moody melody and boy does it kick some.
