Stealing Records is so 2013; the New Move is Stealing DJ Mixes

I have no clue how people think that stealing art from artists is going to go unnoticed in 2014. It's the fucking Internet. In the grand scheme of things, the musical world is incredibly small, and there are more people on the up-and-up looking out for each other than ever before.

I have no clue how people think that stealing art from artists is going to go unnoticed in 2014. It's the fucking Internet. In the grand scheme of things, the musical world is incredibly small, and there are more people on the up-and-up looking out for each other than ever before.

InTheMix posted an article last week about an artist from Venezuela named Nuvolemusic, who has been downloading records from the likes of Aero Chord, Gawtbass, Creaky Jackals, Tomsize, and ETC!ETC!, and claiming the tunes as their own.  The records are still up, and you can take a peek on the comments on his SoundCloud page. The solidarity here is absolutely amazing.

What we've been sitting on for a minute though is a producer DJ named KANZO, who fucked around and stole a DJ mix from Soulmind, one of the finest curators that Berlin has to offer. Soulmind's "Slow Dancing In A Ski Mask" mix was downloaded and uploaded as Kanzo's "Amsterdam Loving Mix." KANZO has since removed the mix, but it was up for months before someone called him out.

There was back and forth between KANZO and Soulmind, where KANZO blames this on an ex-partner of his. He also provided a text message that he supposedly sent to this ex-partner, who didn't reply to his texts:

There's no telling whether or not KANZO's claims are true, whether this supposed partner actually exists, or if he actually knew what was going on here. What we're sure of is that Soulmind's work was stolen, and that KANZO has been getting bookings off of the back of audio that isn't his.

While you're wrapping your head around all of this, you might as well download Soulmind's "Seven Chambers" mix. He hid half of the tracklist in an effort to combat the fuccbois, but it's fucking insane, and moves through 7 different genres and flows from 70BPM to 170BPM in just over 18 minutes. It's absolutely nuts, and is downloadable as well. Enjoy!
