Although it's been widely reported that the 2013 edition of the Ultra Music Festival is scheduled to be taking place over two weekends, there's a resolution on the table at the Miami Commission that could cut the second weekend out completely.

Under the premise that the second weekend would be "disruptive to the local business community and area residents due to noise, nuisance behavior by festival goers, and grid locked traffic," the City of Miami commission will be holding a meeting on January 10 to decide the fate of UMF 2013's second weekend.

The Miami New Times's Crossfade makes a good point; Ultra is saying that the festival generated $79 million to the area last year, but the city attorney's office said that the complaints came about during a meeting in December where "unhappy business owners" made their feelings know.

They aren't totally gone, as they are allowing the funds to be made for the first scheduled weekend. Oddly enough, the Winter Music Conference goes on for the week in between the two UMF dates, so maybe enough is just enough? They want you noisy ravers out by week's end?

We'll see how this resolution is handled, but you can head on over to exMiami to read the resolution in its entirety.

UPDATE It looks like a petition to withdraw this resolution is making the rounds; it already has over 1900 signatures at the time of this update.
