Any Miami Dada Life fans planning on taking a trip to Dada Land tonight got their hopes crushed. While official details haven’t been handed down, This Song Slaps is reporting that no sooner had Tritonal finished his set than the Miami police were shutting the show down before Henry Fong and Dada Life were to perform. Dada Life described the scene as being “pretty much chaos,” and based on some of the Twitter chatter, the venue might have been overbooked, with ticket-holding fans being turned away due to the club being over capacity. This seems to have caused rushing of the gates, which then prompted riot police and SWAT teams to be called in to sort out the situation. It’s a bad look all around, but truthfully we need to rave safe, so you can’t hate on the police coming out and doing their job. The question is, why would this be overbooked? And word is this is the second time Dada Life hasn’t been able to play in Miami – the demand has to be CRAZY, but that doesn’t mean you buck safety trends. Someone will have to answer for this.

What happened was that commitee events had a diffrent venue for this show, for some god knows what reason they changed the venue two days ago, and the new venue was smaller, tickets were still being sold at the door even though they knew they had sold 3X than the capacity of the new venue, people who had bought these tickets weeks ago got turned away, some idiots on the other side of the venue decided to rush a gate and they brought out the riot squad, which was entirely rude even when people were trying to cooperate, this isn’t the first time committee does this, on oct 5th adventure club played in south florida and the AC broke, AC came on and three songs later they were shut down by the fire Marshall, people are still waiting on a refund for that or anything for that matter.

Promoters fault, bottom line. Shit like this has been going on since before yonder. Just imagine a 19 year old overbooking a warehouse and the cops coming at 2am and pulling the needle off the record. Same stuff different time.

I was about 10 rows back from the gate outside and saw the entire thing. There was a crowd of about 400 outside waiting until the gate closed and we heard word from the people in front of us that the fire marshall shut out entry. That’s when the crowd began chanting “let us in” and “give us a refund”. About 20 minutes later some kids started shaking the gate and when it bent enough for ppl to get through everyone ran through it and into the venue. About 15 mins later tritonal was shut down and a man came on saying it was out of his hands and they tried to keep the show going but could not. He said everyone had to leave or they would be arrested. When we went outside riot police with shields were in the streets

I was one of the first people inside the venue when the door was kicked open. No one “bent” the gate, a guy came out of nowhere from the crowd and kicked the metal door twice until it broke open. That’s when everyone screamed and we looked at each other for 2 split seconds and we RANNNN in.
