When deadmau5 told Disney to "lawyer up" after receiving notice that they were opposing his trademark filing in the U.S., we weren't expecting to see something like this so quickly. Earlier today, deadmau5's lawyer Dina LaPolt sent Disney a cease and desist letter; apparently Disney posted a "Re-Micks" video of old Mickey Mouse footage using deadmau5's classic "Ghosts 'n' Stuff" as the soundtrack. As you can see by his tweets up above, deadmau5 said he never gave them permission to use the track, and wants them to take this down ASAP. Kind of hilarious turn of events, given Disney's opposition. As of now, the video is still on their site, and there doesn't seem to have been a response regarding deadmau5's C&D, which you can read in full down below. We'll keep you posted on any updates.

UPDATE Disney recently spoke out about this situation with Rolling Stone: "Disney vigorously protects its trademark rights, and we oppose Mr. Zimmerman’s attempt to register a logo that is nearly identical to our trademarks for his commercial exploitation. Our opposition is not about the use of the Deadmau5 costume. The music was appropriately licensed, and there is no merit to his statement."
