It seems like more and more music festivals are going the way of SXSW in that the after parties are now almost equal in importance to the festivals with which they correspond. Let's face it: cast against the backdrop of someplace like downtown Chicago, nobody wants to stop partying at 10PM—and even if you didn't cop the festival ticket, the shows represent a chance to see your fave act on the cheap. React Presents today announced a slew of shows going down in the Chi on Lollapalooza weekend (July 31-August 3, 2014), and a few of these lineups sound like once in a blue moon opportunities.
Disclosure at the Aragon, Gramatik and HeRobust at Concord Music Hall, followed by Flume and Duke Dumont at the same venue the following night—and then Skrillex and Gesaffelstein the next night, same venue. Let's also not forget the Black Butter party at Porn N' Chicken-famed Evil Olive with Rudimental, Kidnap Kid, and My Nu Leng. This isn't even mentioning the non-React Presents after parties, which include Cut Copy at the Vic, RAC and Lindsay Lowend at the Subterranean, and Jhene Aiko with Shy Girls presented by Red Bull at Reggie's. I'm still missing a few, but there's a full list below, with links to tickets. All you need to know is that Chicago is about to be stuffed to the eye-balls with quality EDM events on Lolla weekend, and regardless of whether you're going to the festival, it's something to know right if you're anywhere close to the midwest.
