Earlier today, we spent about three hours following the Miami Commission meeting; this is before we found out that the actual resolution on the second weekend of Ultra Music Festival 2013 would not be discussed until 6PM. In an article with the Miami Herald, Mayor Tomás Regalado had the following to say about the situation:
"Personally, I think one weekend is enough,” Regalado agree. “We understand that we have to accommodate all festivals, but two weekends with street closures would collapse downtown. Plus, people complain about the kids."
Now that's not to say it's set in stone; the petition reached over 7000 signatures, and a printed copy was hand-delivered earlier today. We're expecting word to break sometime this evening on this resolution.
