The final blow has been delivered.
If you have noticed that in the last lineup announcement, the 2014 Movement Electronic Music Festival has not skimped on delivering the goods this year, and if you are still on the fence about going, Phase Three could really change your mind.
Headlining the Movement Festival this year is the seminal Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance, who are responsible for linking the world of Detroit techno with the world of jazz (a phrase they call “Hi-tech Jazz”) and ultimately changing the face of dance music since the 1980s. They will be performing in a series called Timeline, showcasing songs from the past, present, and future, and will feature two of their youngest additions to the UR roster – keyboardist Jon Dixon and saxophonist DeSean Jones, performing along DJ Mark Flash and Mike “Mad Mike” Banks, founder of the label and collective.
Some very notable names appearing for the first time are Red Bull Music Academy alum Nightwave, dubstep pioneer Shackleton performing live, Brazilian drum & bass turntablist extraordinaire DJ Marky, and dub techno artist Deadbeat; returning to the Movement festival are names like Amp Fiddler, Lee Foss, the infamous Seth Troxler, and BBC Radio 1 resident Heidi.
If you’ve already decided after reading that this is a festival that you need to be witnessing with your own eyes and ears, you can get your single-day or weekend tickets at movement.us; the day-by-day festival schedule and info on other Movement-sponsored parties in the city leading up to and during the festival will also be available soon.
