Pete Tong has been known for bringing in some of the freshest talent to drop a mix for his All Gone Pete Tong compilation series, and for the next installment, which is dropping on March 18, Pete’s brought in Skream to bring his brand of house to the series.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve seen the progression Skream’s sound has made towards house. From the “130 at 11:30″ segment on his BBC Radio 1 show with Benga to tracks like the captivating “Copy Cat,” Skream’s been moving into that direction for a bit. In speaking with Mixmag, Skream mentions that “This mix is only the start really; it’s where I’m heading and I’m really excited about it. There’s a lot of variety and plenty of surprises. The b-lines are still there but here is a Skream mix exploring different tempos and styles, and delivering plenty of feeling. I’m really pleased with it; I just hope everyone else loves it as much as I do.“
Pete Tong called it making a “fresh statement” on the emerging sound of house, and judging by Skream’s selection (which includes exclusives from Route 94, Sui Generis, Krystal Klear, and Skream himself), it will be a great testament to Skream’s evolving palette.
