SFX Entertainment is continuing their push to dominate the EDM EMC landscape, and have put their stakes into an important company in the Chicago area. While the amount of this purchase hasn't been made public, word is that SFX Entertainment has entered into an agreement to purchase React Presents, which has been providing the Chicago area with a number of events, including Spring Awakening. Word is that React Presents, which recently brought Deep Dish to The MID in Chicago, hit the Illinois / Wisconsin / Michigan area with ~200 events in 2013. This means that SFX now has TomorrowWorld, Mysteryland, Spring Awakening, Electric Zoo, Life In Color, and Disco Donnie Presents under their belt. That's a lot of power over the EDM scene in America, like it or not.
The closing is set to be complete in March of 2014, and "[p]ursuant to terms of the agreement SFX will also acquire Clubtix, an online ticket sale forum for consumers, and West Loop Management, a venue management company also based in Chicago." We'll keep you posted on any new developments.
