You can chart 2013's EDM ascension on a course parallel to how much money Las vegas is investing in dance music in its many clubs. LIGHT Nightclub, which will be located in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and is set to open on April 26, has announced four powerhouse DJs as their Spring 2013 residents: Skrillex, Zedd, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Baauer. Oh, and Cirque du Soleil.
From what Rolling Stone is reporting, each act will be designing their own show with Cirque du Soleil during their particular nights, and each show will be different; one might have more acrobats, while another will just be about creating a certain mood based on the music.
With each club in Vegas vying for the city's entertainment dollars, it makes sense that projects like these will arise to help set each venue apart from the others. These definitely won't be your run-of-the-mill DJ at the decks shows, which is possibly what these clubs need to help attract acts that might not normally get involved with EDM on this level.
If anything, it should be a very interesting Spring out there in Vegas.
